The district also includes the outer islands of Read, Cortes, and Quadra. The area has a combined population of approximately 60,000 residents with 46,000 residents within the city of Campbell River
The school district serves approximately 5,700 students in 17 schools. Our two high schools, Carihi Secondary and Timberline Secondary accept students from grades 9 to 12 and operate on a Semester system. Intake into the two high schools is accepted in September (Semester 1) and the end of January (Semester 2).

The Campbell River School District has two schools to choose from: Carihi Secondary School and Timberline Secondary School. Both schools offer excellent academics and electives. Campbell River has a long history of performing at an elite level in sports and school teams regularly rank high on Vancouver Island and the province. Info: Campbell River School District 72 offers High School in Grades 9-12. We are happy to welcome International students into these grades at either of our High Schools. Students will find it easy to get to school considering the small geographical location of Campbell River. Students can be placed anywhere from 1km to 15km away from their school. Students are able to travel to school in a variety of ways depending on their location; rides from Host Parents, the school bus, public bus or walking.

Info: The area surrounding Campbell River is known for its exceptional beauty. The city of Campbell River is nestled between the majestic mountains of Strathcona Park, lakes and the Salish Sea. The climate is mild all year round allowing locals to enjoy the outdoors. The city itself is a close-knit community where you will quickly learn to find your way around. While we are a small city of 46,000 people we offer extensive recreational opportunities whether you enjoy the arts, culture, the outdoors or sports. Campbell River has a local airport and is a quick 30-minute flight from Vancouver International Airport and a 4 hour drive and ferry ride from Vancouver. For those of you interested in winter sports we are a quick 40-minute drive from Mount Washington Alpine Resort, where you can ski.

Info: In a semester system student take four courses each semester. Students are encouraged to request courses and we do our best to provide all requested courses but please realize it is difficult due to scheduling to match every request. School runs from 8:30am - 3:00pm each day with classes running about 75 minutes each. Students are placed in a grade with their age group peers.

Student Services & Orientation & Counseling:
Students can look forward to regular contact with Program Staff including a dedicated Homestay Coordinator, Academic Advisor, Activity Coordinator and Program Secretary who all meet with students on a regular basis.
Our Academic Advisor regularly oversees students and their success at school. Our program is quick to intervene and provide support should students require additional help.
Students arriving in September are welcomed with a full day Orientation followed by weekly check-ins and mini sessions to make sure students are well integrated in their first month. Regular monthly lunch meetings offer students the chance to ask questions and hear about program updates. For our program staff it allows us to check in on students and ensure they are doing well at school and at home.
