We are a school of passionate and professional people that provide International Students with endless opportunities and excellent pastoral care.
Because of our size we are able to provide an extensive list of subjects. Creative Arts and Performing Arts are our stand-out subject areas.
Burnside is positioned in a very student-friendly neighbourhood. Close by we have: University of Canterbury, International Airport, Russley Golf Course and the local Fitness and Aquatic Centre.
A 59 hectare site consisting of: a 700 seat Performing Arts Auditorium, outdoor swimming pool, two gymnasiums, dance hall and commercial kitchen facilities for our Food Technology students. Across the road from school is the City Council owned fitness and aquatic centre that can be used by students in their free time.
The curriculum has 8 Essential Learning Areas. Mathematics, Sciences, Social Sciences, Technology, Languages, Physical Education and Health, English and Creative Arts. We over 50 different subjects within these 8 learning areas. Student in the first 2 years will have a set curriculum with some optional subjects.

Specialist Music Programme - a unique programme in New Zealand catering for New Zealand's best musicians. Pre-recorded auditions are compulsory for entrance into this high level course. Specialisms are - Piano, Strings, Woodwind, Brass, Voice, Jazz and Contemporary Music.

Info: South Island's largest co-educational school in Christchurch, the Garden City. Burnside is situated in the western suburbs and only 2km from the Christchurch International Airport, 4km from the University of Canterbury and 7km from the city centre.
Specialized Programs: Outdoor Education

Info: All International Students who do not have family close to school live with one of our selected homestay families.
Two members of staff are dedicated to managing the homestay programme and making the best fit for each student.
Most students will walk, bike or bus to school. Christchurch is a flat, cycle-friendly city.

There are four members of staff in the International Department. In addition to these members, Divisional Deans and Counsellors also provide a large amount of support for all students.
