Info: A good residential caregiver family is of paramount importance for the international student. It is a home away from home. Therefore, all our caregiver families are carefully selected by our homestay coordinator.
We offer a selection of town and rural homestays on farms or lifestyle blocks. All homestays are either within walking distance to school or on the school bus route.
All caregivers' homes are inspected and families are interviewed by the Homestay Coordinator. All caregiver families are vetted in accordance with the requirements of the Code of Practice 2016 – for the Pastoral care of International Students.
Student Services & Orientation & Counseling:
The International Department at school offers the following support to students.
Orientation
Upon arrival at the school, the students participate in a comprehensive orientation programme.
Students will also meet with the International Dean to discuss their subject options and to assess how their prior learning matched subjects chosen.
Pastoral Care
The International Student Manager is available to students on a daily basis to discuss any issues that may arise and to support the students in their ongoing studies and life in New Zealand. Both the Manager and Dean conduct regular interview to ensure that students are coping well with their school work and their life in Waiuku.
